Planets

Tatooine
This is a warm, dry and sandy planet in the outer rim territories, far from the initial reach of the Imperial influence from Coruscant. Here work is frequently that of a moisture farmer, to get water for the dryness or just some underhand work.
Here lies the 'Boonta Eve' pod race, Jabba's palace and the Mos Eisley Cantina. plus the homes of Anakin and Luke Skywalker. It is also where Obi Wan chose to become a recluse, hiding out in the Jundland wastes.
Other frequent sights here include Bantha's roaming with Tusken Raiders atop and mirages or wisps of warm air. Sandstorms where also rife and could be deadly to those not equipped for them.
It was here, where Qui Gon Jinn first discovered Anakin in Mos Espa and took him with him to become a Jedi, though it was only the need for parts to their ship and the natural criminal state the planet was in, that enabled their encounter.

Coruscant
Set right in the heart of the galaxy, Coruscant, (originally called Notron and Yuuzhan Tar by the 'Yuuzhan Vong') is where all the major decisions take place and all routes lead to. It was also home to the Jedi Temple and the Galactic Senate in the times of the Republic and served as capital over many generations. Also over 1 Trillion people live here as permanent residents.
It's landscape was made up of silver skyscrapers in it's richest parts and grotty bars and smokey alley's in the poorer area's. Factories were also rife, for work for the lesser affluent.

Naboo
Near the outer rim territories, Naboo was filled with swamps, plains, seas and mighty waterfalls, which often flowed around dome shaped buildings, 'Theed' being no exception to this, as beauty was rife. The Naboo people were friendly and had quite an influence in the Senate and below the waters, Gungans dwelled in their bubble covered homes, often distancing themselves from the surface dwellers as they believed the Naboo people acted as if they were better than them. However, when Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon Jinn went to the Gungan home of 'Otoh Gunga', the Jedi managed to convince them to join in an alliance with the 'Naboo', as the Separatist fleet would effect both civilisations, above and below the waters.
Much of the Clone wars was kept away from Naboo, partly because they mostly supported Palpatine, not being aware of his true intentions and so when the Empire began, Naboo was already pretty much an Allie and so retained it's beauty, unlike many war torn planets.

Kashyyyk
This is the wooded planet home to the mighty Wookiees, which sits in the mid-rim and  was covered largely by Wroshyr trees and swamps, preferred  to keep away from conflict, though time and again, they were drawn into difficult conflicts, such as enslavement during the Empire era and in a large scale battle during the Clone wars, of which Yoda and Tarffull led them to an aspired victory, though with the call of 'Order 66', their victory was unable, yet again.
After the Battle of Endor and the end of the Empire, Kashyyy was freed, but that was short lived, as the remaining Imperial loyalists, rose back up and re-enslaved the Wookiees.
The Wookiees wouldn't remain this way though, they were resilliant and when the last remnants of the Empire were wiped out by the Yuuzhan Vong, the Wookiees became an important planet for traders, then, when Darth Krayt rose to power, he chose a different method of controlling the race, that he saw as dangerous, for he blockaded the planet, cutting it off from the rest of the galaxy and although soon traders were allowed to come and go freely, the Wookiess were forced to remain on the planet and thus, they became less important to many in the galaxy.
The planet also had a long running feud with the nearby Trandosha, where the locals were brutal hunters and often took Wookiees as slaves, as although the reptiles were smaller, they were more the natural hunters.

Mustafar
A burning lava planet in the outer rim and with no real population to speak of, it's no wonder Mustafar was often used as a place for evil or nasty characters to meet. It was a draw for many a 'Black Sun' crime syndicate members and also where Darth Maul started his Sith training, but most notably, it was one of the places the CIS met, to discuss the Death Star plans away from prying eyes.
In truth, Palpatine sent the members there to make it easier for his new apprentice to wipe them all out. Anakin had finally fell to the Dark side and to finalise his commitment to the Sith, he to kill them all, including Wat Tambor, San Hill and Poggle the Lesser.
He succeeded, but Padme had tracked him there and pleading to his good nature, then Obi-Wan too came, but neither could get through to him and after nearly killing Padme, he fought Obi-Wan in a tense Light Sabre battle over the lava. Obi-Wan was the victor and left Anakin wounded in the edge of the lava, but Palaptine found Anakin and saved his life, though from there, he was encased in black armour for the rest of his life and he became Darth Vader.
There was a few locals on Mustafar, which oversaw the mining, of which Droids did most of the work, but overall it was pretty much a desolate planet and as such would continue to be a draw for unscrupulous beings, including the Sith, Darth Krayt.

Geonosis
The capital of the CIS and home to both the winged Geonosians and 2 droid foundries, Geonosis frequently saw battle and one of these was the intense start to the 'Clone Wars', which saw Obi-Wan, Anakin and Padme kidnapped, before facing 3 mighty beasts, then more Jedi joining the fray and subsequently a full on Clone Vs Droid war broke out.
Many Jedi died in that first onslaught, but so did Jango Fett, as Mace Windu proved too tough an opponent. This meant young Boba had become an orphan and soon left the CIS to his own bounty hunting.
On Geonosis, sandstorms were frequent too and the harsh climate and weather had given to more than 1 extinction. The insect-like Geonosians only escape the harshness thanks to their underground hive tunnels.
This first battle on Geonosis would certainly not be the last, as it constantly took a battering from both the elements and blaster fire, but when the Clone Wars ended, the planet remained under the Empires rule and as such, began to see less conflict. Then during the New Republic era, even the Yuuzhan Vong left the planet be and as such, more life begun to blossom.
